Plan one meaningful experience each day
A cooking session, a quiet tea table or a guided walk can give a place context that a photo stop cannot. Choose the experiences that match your interests, then allow enough time for conversation, transfers and rest. The durations below exclude long intercity travel.
Eight ways to experience China
These are itinerary ideas, not instant-book products. Ask us to confirm the operator, language, dates, accessibility, inclusions and cancellation terms before paying.

01 / Guangzhou · Chengdu · Xi’an · Changsha
Local food walks & cooking
2–4 hours
Try Cantonese dim sum, Sichuan flavors, Xi’an noodles or Hunan snacks with someone who can explain ingredients and local food culture. A cooking session turns a favorite dish into a skill to take home.
Before you book
Confirm allergies, spice tolerance, walking distance, included tastings and drinks, and whether a market visit or cooking class is actually included.

02 / Chengdu
Pandas & a Chengdu teahouse
Half a day, plus a relaxed afternoon
Spend a morning learning about giant pandas, then slow down in a city teahouse. This pairing balances an iconic wildlife visit with the everyday rhythm of Chengdu.
Before you book
Check the exact panda facility, entry slot and transfer. Sightings and activity are not guaranteed; animal handling or panda-holding is not part of this suggestion.

03 / Xi’an · Suzhou · Beijing
Hanfu styling & travel portraits
2–4 hours
Choose an outfit and a historic setting for portraits that tell a story about your trip. Xi’an’s Tang-style streets and Suzhou’s canal lanes offer different moods; plan around light, crowds and comfort.
Before you book
Confirm outfit size, hair and makeup, deposit, photographer language, shooting permission, edited-photo count and delivery date. Entrance fees may be separate.

04 / Hangzhou · Chengdu · Suzhou
Tea culture & hands-on arts
1.5–3 hours
Learn to brew tea, notice its aroma and ask about the place it comes from. Add a separate calligraphy or craft session if you enjoy making something by hand. Hangzhou tea villages work especially well with a slower itinerary.
Before you book
Check host language, group size, materials and take-home items. Tea picking is seasonal; ask whether tastings or purchases carry additional charges.

05 / Chengdu
Sichuan opera & face-changing
An evening; show length varies
Watch expressive music, costume and stagecraft, including face-changing where featured. A short introduction helps explain the traditions before the performance begins.
Before you book
Confirm the venue, actual program, seats, duration, translation and whether tea is included. A promotional photo does not guarantee the same performers or acts.

06 / Guilin & Yangshuo · Zhangjiajie · Beijing
Landscapes at your own pace
Half a day to a full day
Choose countryside cycling near Yangshuo, a Li River outing, a manageable Great Wall walk or mountain viewpoints in Zhangjiajie. Match the route to your fitness and the weather, with time simply to enjoy the view.
Before you book
Confirm distance, elevation, railings, age or height limits, equipment and weather cancellation rules. Cableways reduce some climbs but do not make every route step-free.

07 / Chongqing · Shanghai · Changsha · Guangzhou · Shenzhen
City nights & waterfront views
2–3 hours
See Hongyadong’s riverside lights, the Bund skyline, Changsha’s riverfront or the Pearl River after dusk. Pair a short walk with dinner, or compare licensed cruise options when the route suits your evening.
Before you book
Check the meeting point, pier, return transport and lighting or sailing schedules. Plan a rain alternative and allow extra time around popular viewpoints.

08 / Shanghai · Beijing · Chengdu
Family days & theme parks
A full day for a major theme park
Consider Shanghai Disney Resort or Universal Beijing Resort for a dedicated park day, or combine shorter museum and panda visits for a gentler family route. Keep meal breaks and hotel rest in the plan.
Before you book
Confirm dated admission, children’s eligibility, height restrictions, accessibility and any paid queue products directly with the operator. Tickets and express access are different purchases.
