Check your passport and purpose
Eligibility depends on nationality, passport type, travel purpose and the policy’s validity on your entry date. Some eligible ordinary-passport holders can visit for up to 30 days for tourism, business, family visits, exchanges or transit. Check the official list rather than assuming all passports qualify.
240-hour transit is a separate route
For eligible nationals, the 240-hour policy requires transit to a third country or region, a confirmed onward ticket, an eligible entry port and travel within permitted areas. Country A → China → Country A is not the same as onward transit to Country B. Confirm the whole routing with the airline and immigration authority.
Prepare evidence of your plans
Carry your onward booking, accommodation address and contact details, plus a business invitation where relevant. Complete the required arrival process through official channels. Border authorities decide admission; a travel booking does not guarantee entry.
Stay within the permission granted
Check the admitted stay and any regional limits. Hotels normally handle accommodation registration; other accommodation may require action by you or your host. Work, study and reporting have separate requirements. If plans change, seek official advice before the permitted stay expires.
