Show the phrase when you need it
Save this page before travel or print the phrase table. Point to the Chinese text if pronunciation is difficult. Pinyin helps with sound, but tones matter; keep your request short and show an address or photograph when useful.
Emergency numbers in mainland China
Police: 110. Fire: 119. Medical ambulance: 120. Give your exact location first, then describe what happened. Ask a nearby person, hotel or guide for language help if needed; English service is not guaranteed.
Explain dietary and medical needs clearly
“Not spicy” does not mean allergen-free. For allergies, prepare a separate Chinese-language card naming the ingredient and the need to avoid cross-contact. Keep your accommodation’s Chinese address and an emergency contact alongside this phrase card.
