A glimpse of the journey

Day by day
This is a customisable itinerary outline. The written booking confirmation determines the final programme and inclusions.
Day 1–3Beijing
Forbidden City & Jingshan · Mutianyu Great Wall · Hutong lanes & local life
Explore imperial courtyards and the stories behind their design, then look over the palace roofs from Jingshan. Admission requires advance confirmation. Follow a scenic section of the Great Wall with time for photographs. Cable-car options and walking distance are tailored to your group. Walk Beijing’s old lanes, pause for neighborhood food and learn about courtyard living. Home visits are arranged only with the host’s agreement.

Day 4–5Datong
Yungang Grottoes · Hengshan & Hanging Temple, Shanxi
Look closely at monumental Buddhist carvings and the exchange of artistic traditions that shaped Northern Wei Datong. Explore Hengshan near Hunyuan and the Hanging Temple’s extraordinary cliffside construction, with time in Datong. Temple access can involve narrow stairs and capacity limits.

Day 6–7Luoyang
Longmen Grottoes
Walk the riverside stone-carving landscape of Luoyang and examine the monumental figures at Fengxian Temple.

Day 8–10Jingdezhen
Jingdezhen porcelain craft
Visit kiln heritage and contemporary studios, then try shaping or decorating porcelain with an artisan. Firing and delivery are confirmed separately.

Day 11–13Hangzhou → Suzhou
Hangzhou’s West Lake · Tea culture, leaf to cup · Suzhou classical gardens · Silk & embroidery traditions
Explore lakeside paths, willow-lined views and stories of poets and painters. A boat ride can be arranged when services operate. Meet a tea host, learn about preparation and taste different infusions. Tea picking depends on the season and the farm’s arrangements. Read a garden through its framed views, scholar rocks and waterside pavilions. Continue into traditional lanes to appreciate Jiangnan’s quieter side. Discover how silk is made and how detailed embroidery develops stitch by stitch. Museum or studio visits depend on the local programme.

Day 14–17Guilin & Yangshuo
Li River landscapes · Yangshuo countryside
Travel through limestone peaks and riverside scenery. The cruise or raft route is selected for your schedule and current river conditions. Follow quiet village paths and the Yulong River landscape, with an optional easy cycle or countryside walk suited to your pace.

Day 18–19Shanghai
The Bund & Shanghai lanes
Compare the Bund’s historic facades with the Pudong skyline, then slow down among the city’s leafy streets and old neighborhoods.
